Recently an article published on TIME.com answered the question: Is Hummus Actually Healthy? Several experts agree that hummus is a very healthy dish rich in vitamins and minerals including folate, magnesium, and calcium.

Hummus contains what registered dietician Lindsay Pine calls the “trifecta of macro nutrients” namely fiber, protein, and healthy fat. It can help those who are trying to maintain a healthy weight by keeping them feeling full much longer than many other foods. Though hummus is packed with healthy ingredients, you should still enjoy it in moderation – especially if you’re counting calories.

What is Hummus?

Hummus is a thick, creamy spread made from chickpeas, olive oil, tahini, lemon juice and a variety of spices. It is naturally gluten-free and a very popular vegetarian dish.
